The Jockey Club Suites at the Churchill Downs will undergo a renovation worth $14 million. Officials said that they are preparing the suites in time for the 150th Kentucky Derby next year.
According to bookie software reports, the $14 million Jockey Club Suites refurbishment at Churchill Downs Racetrack was announced in time for the 2004 Kentucky Derby. The redevelopment process is intended to update the lavish hospitality options at the historic racetrack that has hosted the annual Kentucky Derby since 1875.
The renovations will affect all 61 suites in the Jockey Club Tower at Churchill Downs on the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors and directly across from the famous Twin Spires on the home stretch. The maximum number of visitors who may stay at the Jockey Club Suites is 2,500. Thus, all the club’s toilets, dining facilities, and social areas are also accounted for in the blueprints.

Churchill Downs president Mike Anderson has stated that the renovation project is being undertaken to ensure that current and future suite holders are provided with the high-quality entertainment for which the track is renowned, particularly during the highly anticipated Kentucky Derby Week and the other popular racing events, such as the spring, September, and fall thoroughbred horse race meets held in Louisville.
Suites at the Jockey Club start at $750, with prices increasing during the club’s most popular events. For instance, suites at the Kentucky Derby may cost more than $200,000 for a weekend’s worth of visitors. The single suites have 24 available guest beds and 50 in the doubles. Suites include fully stocked kitchens where visitors may prepare their meals and drinks.
