The Bundesliga Football Season Ends at Borussia Dortmund
Saturday marks the final match of the Bundesliga season that resumed on May 16 and there is still something to play for as 1899 Hoffenheim travels to face Borussia Dortmund. While the hosts are locked into a Champions League spot for next season, Die Kraichgauer can improve their European spot this weekend. A 4-0 win last week secured European football for 2020-21 but they can go straight into the group stage instead of the qualifiers if they have a better result than Wolfsburg (at Bayern Munich) this week.
Hoffenheim won at home against BVB on December 20 in the last match before the Christmas holiday break. Dortmund scored first through Mario Goetze in the 19th minute and the visitors led 1-0 at half. Late strikes from Sargis Adamyan and Andrej Kramaric gave Hoffenheim all three points and ended BVB’s five-match point streak
Borussia Dortmund Betting Preview: Finish Strong
The Black and Yellows secured a second-place finish on Saturday with a 2-0 road win over third-place RB Leipzig. American teenager Gio Reyna assisted on the first goal of the game by Norwegian sensation Erling Braut Haaland. With BVB leading 1-0, Haaland put the game away in added time for the brace and ran his goal tally to 15 in 14 Bundesliga games.
Dortmund have been awesome at Signal Iduna Park this season with 11 wins and three draws in 16 league games, however both losses have come since the restart of play in May. They have not had a draw in any contest since December 17 with 14 wins and six losses in that span. Jaden Sancho leads the team in goals (20) and assists (19) in all competitions while goalie Roman Burki has 19 wins and 13 clean sheets in 30 starts.
Hoffenheim Betting Preview: Ride the Momentum
Hoffenheim has rebounded spectacularly since a 3-0 home loss to Hertha Berlin on May 16. Saturday saw Die Kraichgauer thump Union 4-0 as Ihlas Bebou, Kamaric and Munas Dabbur scored in the first half before Christoph Baumgartner provided the final goal. The win secured a spot in Europe for the third time in four seasons and gave Hoffenheim their fourth win in the last six games.
On the season Hoffenheim have a better record away from home with 27 points and seven wins in 16 games. Kramaric returned from knee and ankle injuries last week to score his team-leading eighth goal while Bamgartner is right behind him with seven goals. Keeper Oliver Baumann has allowed 52 goals in 30 starts in all games this season with six clean sheets.
Hoffenheim went into the matchweek 27 contest six points behind Wolfsburg and picked up a draw against last-place Paderborn. They were still two points back when manager Alfred Schreuder and his assistant coach brother Dick left the club on June 9 citing differences in opinion with the board room staff. Since then the team has been run by the remaining assistant coaches and outscored opponents 7-3 while chasing down Schalke, Freiburg and Wolfsburg in the table.
Borussia Dortmund vs. 1899 Hoffenheim Betting Lines

Odds by Scores&Stats
Both teams should be pretty loose for this finale and even though they have wrapped up second place I’d expect Dortmund to play their strongest side in the home finale. Hoffenheim will go for broke knowing that even if they lose they will still play in Europa League qualifiers at the end of the summer. This should be a fun matchup between two top-seven squads and the goals could be flowing early and often.
