Former BYU Cougars Jimmer Fredette is the 2023 USA Basketball 3×3 Male Athlete of the Year. He represented the nation in various 3×3 tournaments, including Men’s World Cup and Men’s Pan American Games.
Fredette was integral to Team USA’s 6-1 record and silver medal run at the June World Cup. Under Fredette’s direction, the United States team went undefeated and won gold at the Pan American Games.
According to basketball news reports, France will host the 2024 Summer Olympics. Also, Jimmer Fredette will be a part of Team USA.
Only twice before has the Olympic schedule included a 3×3 basketball event. According to pay per head experts, the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics were the site of its debut.
2023 USA Basketball 3×3 Male Athlete of the Year
From 2007 to 2011, Fredette played for the BYU basketball team. With the guard in charge, BYU reached the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 as a No. 3 seed in 2011.
In 2011, he was widely considered the best player in the country, and he won the Naismith Player of the Year award for his outstanding play throughout his senior year. While a BYU Cougar, Fredette shot 45.5% from the field and 39.4% from beyond the arc, good for 18.7 points per game on average. According to NBA news reports, his career with the Cougars included 139 games.
After Fredette’s last year of high school, the NBA picked him as the tenth overall choice in 2011. Since becoming a pro in 2011, Fredette has played for several teams, including five different NBA teams. Before joining the Phoenix Suns, he was a member of the Sacramento Kings, the Chicago Bulls, the New Orleans Pelicans, and the New York Knicks.
