France’s national gaming and lottery operator La Francaise des Jeux or FDJ will acquire ZEturf Group. Also, the latter operates online racebooks and sportsbooks under the ZEbet brand. CEO Stephane Pallez described the ZEturf as a critical player in the online horse betting industry.
Based on bookie pay per head reports, the ZEturf group is now worth $181 million after the transaction. Further consideration may be given based on the outcomes in 2023. Beginning in 2024, FDJ’s Sports Betting & Online Gaming BU will have a higher contribution margin.
FDJ Will Acquire ZEturf
The transaction will likely close in the second half of 2023 after it completes all paperwork. It includes getting the approval from French Competition Authority.
In September, FDJ announced the commencement of exclusive discussions to buy the ZEturf business. According to pay per head sportsbook sources, the acquisition is part of a drive to strengthen its position in the French online gaming sector.
According to bookie pay per head reviews and news sites, the purchase will expand the company’s operations into sectors where it does not currently operate. For example, it includes horse racing, betting, and poker.
Founded in 2001, the ZEturf group operates under the ZEbet brand in the online horse race betting sector and the online sports betting market.
According to FDJ, the company has over 100 workers and registered nearly $798.5 million in bets in 2021, including more than $99.8 million in B2B bets.
